we provide seamless, end-to-end support from regulatory approval through to manufacturing and marketing.
Work History
After majoring in biomedical engineering at Waseda University Graduate School, she spent 12 years at Keio University Hospital conducting research on platelet coagulation activity and vascular endothelial cells. In 2005, she transitioned from academia to industry, joining Beckman Coulter where she was responsible for quality control and educational programs. Subsequently, at Medtronic Japan, Inc., in the Cardiovascular Division, she managed academic and program initiatives for drug-eluting coronary stents and participated in the launch project for the “renal denervation” device for treating hypertension. Furthermore, in the Peripheral Division, she led the market launch of numerous peripheral vascular devices, including renal artery stents, femoral artery balloons, microcatheters, and carotid thrombus aspiration catheters. At Abbott Medical Japan LLC (formerly St. Jude Medical), she served as Senior Marketing Manager, overseeing the launch of new products including artificial heart valves and catheters for congenital heart disease.
Currently, she serves as a catalyst for the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s “Advanced Medical Device Acceleration Project” and as an expert committee member for the Science and Technology Policy Council of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), where she is also involved in supporting the societal implementation of medical devices developed in Japan.

Work History
He advocates for medical device development that begins with the needs of the clinical setting. He has been engaged in clinical practice at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the Emergency Department of the University of Tokyo Hospital. In June 2014, he completed the Global Faculty training program at Stanford University’s BioDesign Program, a training initiative for entrepreneurs and inventors in the medical device field. Since July 2014, he has served as a Specially Appointed Assistant Professor at the University of Tokyo Medical Innovation Initiative, where he has promoted plans to introduce BioDesign. Concurrently, he worked at a venture capital firm investing in early-stage medical startups in Japan and provided consulting services for new medical device business ventures. In June 2015, he co-founded Japan BioDesign and serves as a Co-Director. He is also in charge of the University of Tokyo’s Super Global University Creation Support Strategic Partnership with Stanford University. In addition, he is engaged in clinical practice as an adjunct assistant professor at Tokyo Medical University Hospital. He is a board-certified specialist of the Japan Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
In recent years, he has served on the Young Researchers Working Group of the 2015 Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare’s Advisory Council on Global Health; as a steering committee member for the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry’s 2017 “Medical Device Development Support Network” project; as a part-time lecturer at Waseda University Business School; as a mentor for Keio Health X; and as a Specially Appointed Professor at Tokyo University of Pharmacy and Life Sciences.
